Welcome!

On this blog, you will find a growing collection of my own juicing recipes that I have invented specifically for IBS sufferers (although they're great for other people, too). I've had IBS-D for seven years, but I've only recently started juicing to help ensure that I am getting enough nutrients. Juicing is an excellent way to supply your body with plenty of vitamins and minerals, something that IBS sufferers, particularly those with IBS-D, often struggle to do. Those of us with IBS often have very limited diets because many foods are too fibrous for us to digest, or trigger IBS attacks for a variety of other reasons. We end up avoiding many of the fruits and vegetables that our body needs. Read more about why I recommend juicing for IBS sufferers in my Introduction to Juicing for IBS, and please consider contributing to this collection of juicing recipes!

Resources for IBS Sufferers

The Irritable Bowel Syndrome Self Help and Support Group Forum Site is a fantastic online community of over 2,600 people with IBS and other digestive disorders.  The site includes forums for discussing symptoms specific to IBS-D, IBS-C, women's health Issues in conjunction with IBS, teen's and children's IBS issues, diet options for IBS sufferers, the impact of IBS on your relationships and career, prescription medications for IBS, over-the-counter treatments, cognitive behavioral therapy and hypnotherapy for IBS, support group meetups... and the list goes on.  A lot of members are long-time IBS sufferers who are ready and willing to share the knowledge that they've gained throughout the years regarding diet, nutrition, treatments, etc. and offer emotional support as well.

There is a lot of other resources available through the IBS Self Help and Support Group Main Site, as well.

The First Year: IBS - An Essential Guide for the Newly Diagnosed by Heather van Vorous provides an excellent medical explanation of what is happening to you (biologically) if you suffer from IBS.  Although doctors and researches don't truly understand IBS, van Vorous walks you through what is happening to your colon, and also discusses many options for treating and coping with your IBS.  Learn more and purchase The First Year by Heather van Vorous on Amazon.

You can also check out Heather van Vorous's Help For IBS Website, which I haven't had the time to adequately explore yet.  It looks as though there are a lot of resources archived here, though.

Heather van Vorous also has a cookbook called Eating for IBS, which many IBS sufferers swear has saved their life.  I am just starting to experiment with the recipes that she includes in this book, but I will post a review once I have tried a number of her IBS-friendly breakfast foods, entrees, snacks, soups and beverages. 1. Hi Lauren, Thanks for your blog. Have any of the juices you've tried been a problem (i.e. triggers) for your IBS, or have you tolerated them all. In other words, does juicing the "forbidden foods" take the irritation out of them?
